Work experience and relevant opportunities

As part of work experience, I volunteered at Worthing Theatres for a week. I was involved in work at both the Worthing Pavilion and Worthing Connaught. Most of the work included front of house with some admin work. I learned a lot about working within theatre from another perspective, focusing more on hospitality of the guests. This experience interested me into getting involved in volunteer work in theatre, as it is good to put on your CV and great experience of working in this type of environment. I now want to explore opportunities more involved  behind the scenes and assisting in productions etc.

You can also get a lot out of attending workshops to try new skills and improve on your own. Brighton Fringe would be a great example for me as it is within my location meaning I can participate in a lot of their workshops. Many of these can give useful advice for your future career and how to build yourself.

Our next college performance, The Tempest, is apart of Brighton Fringe being held in Brighton Open Air Theatre. This will be our first performance where we experience a more public audience in contrast to just friends and family. As the Brighton Fringe festival is a popular annual event, this will be a professional insight into the industry and how shows are managed, as well as us being professional.
